The Films of Su Friedrich: Vol. 1 - The Ties That Bind

Excellent: Wait for the End and You'll Thank Me
At first, and in the middle, you're likely to think this film a precocious waste of time. But wait. Trust me: I felt the same way. The end will prove worth your wait, and the wait isn't long. By creating strange intersections between everyday life in Nazi Germany, the Holocaust, and semi-current American events, The Ties That Bind generates a stunning effect. Patience is not a quality most moviegoers, including myself at times, possess, but this film doesn't ask much of the attention span and rewards what little is spent threefold or more.
